Hello there!
Hey! Thank you so much for stopping by and for checking out my website and my books! :)
My name is Abigail Hammond, but I always go by Abby. One of my thumbs is shorter than the other. I wish I could say that was because of an exciting fight I was in with a raccoon, or an accident from my Padawan training, but no, I was just born with unmatched thumbs (to be clear, I’ve never fought a raccoon, nor am I a Jedi).
Once, when I was in high school, I think my sophomore year, I spent all my savings on a pet bird (there’s a point to this story, I promise). A month or so later, my English class was reading The Birds. I’ve never been a horror fan, so I hated the story, and everyone in my class knew it. The day we finished reading it, I went home to find my bird dead at the bottom of its cage. The running joke from then on was that I killed my bird out of fear that it would try to eat me one day. I didn’t kill it of course, and I was very sad about how much money I’d lost on it. I’ve disliked The Birds ever since, and planned to never read another book by the author who wrote it.
Now, as an adult, one out of my favorite books happens to be Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier. The ironic thing is, she’s also the author of The Birds, which I didn’t know until I’d finished Rebecca.
I took a nontraditional route after high school, and rather than attending college, I participated in a Youth with a Mission Discipleship Training School for six months. After that, I studied and attained an associates degree in Biblical Studies through a satellite campus of Oral Roberts University, during which time I started dating my incredible husband, Nick. Now, we live in the central valley of California with our dog, Obito. When Nick and I were dating, we started a Video Production Company called Hammond Cinematography, which we still run to this day. Here’s our website: https://www.hammondcinematography.com
With every book I write, my desire is to let you know there is always hope. No matter how dark things might seem, darkness can never overcome the light, so long as we refuse to give up. I pray the stories I create reflect that truth. My hope comes from Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior. If you haven’t met Him yet, I’d like you to know He already loves you!
“…the people who sat in darkness have seen a great light. And for those who lived in the land where death casts its shadow, a light has shined.” Matthew 4:16, NLT
